Preamble
Preamble: At the beginning of each session, I paraphrase a simple statement of purpose that reminds the participants why we carve time from our busy lives to gather and create. #1: Here we have permission to play, to explore, to take small risks through our artmaking-- in the hope that we will develop a friendly attitude toward playful exploration and risk-taking in our daily lives. #2: There is no wrong way to complete a directive. "Mistakes" are part of the process, and we will use them as practice for a life philosophy that says, No mistakes or problems... only opportunities and possibilities! #3: Follow your bliss -- If you feel more passionate, more energy, or more enthusiasm toward a different artistic idea than the one suggested, Follow it. Here we can escape the "shoulds."
